Part of my design process is using bits and pieces of leftover metal, so that there is as little waste as possible. Here are a couple of examples: in the earrings at the left, the smaller components were remnants from punching larger circles; I was using the focal piece in the pendant at the right to practice letter stamping, but when I turned it over and saw its beautiful colors, I decided it needed to turn into a piece of jewelry instead. This type of improvisational approach helps me find new ways of working—I riff off of the pieces in the workshop.
